The author of a Russian N9 blog got some hot news about the future firmware update (PR 1.3) for Nokia N9. Finding no information about the next update, blogger Charlie Matroskin simply filled out a question form on the official Russian Nokia website and asked: "When will there be the next firmware-update for Nokia N9?"
Unfortunately he couldn't say whenever Skype will support video calls and pointed out that Skype is a product of a Nokia third-party-developer. The since PR 1.2 available Gtalk-video-call add-on shows, that Skype could do the same already now but hasn't been developed/published.

What we also wished to see in PR 1.3 are among other things:
![]() |
| Skype video calls. Will the wish become true? |
1. More bug fixes and reduction of system-lags
PR 1.2 reduced system-lags a lot and gave the N9 a very smooth user experience. But we're sure there is still space for improvement. Especially after reboots or long stand-by times, fast scrolling or swiping can feel a bit choppy for a few seconds. Major bugs were removed with PR 1.2 - but the N9 is certainly not free of them.
2. Better Bluetooth/USB tethering
Thanks to the included Wi-Fi hotspot application it is pretty easy to share your mobile internet plan with any other device. Tethering would be another way to do that - in some situation the even better one, especially if you share your data plan just with a computer. Furthermore USB tethering uses much less energy than an activated Wi-Fi hotspot. So far this seems to be working with PC Suite and Nokia Link, but not successfully for everyone.
3. Better push-notification support
Push notifications are a mystery on the N9. They somehow don't seem to work very well and it has been very puzzling to make them work. Everyone who uses the instant messenger ebuddy XMS knows how unreliable push service works.
4. Faster GPS localization when using Maps or Drive
Some users are complaining that it sometimes takes way to long until a GPS connection is built up and location updated. This certainly can be improved.
5. to ... What enhancements are you waiting for?
Please leave a comment below to share your wishes and ideas - let's find out what our readers are waiting for.

Wow that's cool.... looking forward for PR1.3 update :)
ReplyDeleteUSB tethering available using Nokia link.
ReplyDeletethere will be an integrated FM app
it's gonna be damn fast! as in, REALLY FAST
Thanks a lot! I totally thought this wouldn't work. I've just looked it up and found out that it doesn't work for everyone that well - I've changed the article a bit. I need to try that out again.
DeleteWhat are your sources for FM app?
- Call window should be the same of contact windows. SOmetimes I am already in the Call window and want to send an sms to someone : impossible, i have to close this window and open the contact one.... a bit stupid
ReplyDelete- video calling with skype !
- Use the camera with a button
- Use the front camera to make pictures
- faster transitions beteween windows
- i miss shazam, whatsapp (that should be ready soon) and 2-3 other famous apps
Except that this is the best smartphone in the universe ;)
Well, I guess there are some apps that can do these things.. so it's not necessarily all Nokias task..
DeleteBut you're right with Skype video call, want it too :)
For Whatsapp, check out these links ;)

http://wazapp.im/
Those are some really good points. Especially the first one with contact/message windows. Long-click a contact should open a pop-up menu where you could choose "Write message". Would make things easier.
Deleteother problem: if one of my contacts has 3 mobile numbers, when i receive a call or an sms i dont know from which mobile it comes!!! we should have "mobile home, mobile work, mobile 1, 2,3...." i'm the only one to have noticed that?
DeleteBut the biggest problem is that many times the N9 is too slow when i have to check sms or doing other manipulations. I hope this problem will really improved in the 1.3
finally yes some apps can do these things but would be nice if they are features of the N9
You have some really good ideas/inputs here. It's true that the selection of phone number names is kinda limited to "home, mobile, work, other, ...". It would be an advantage if we could give custom names, like it is possible on for example the iPhone. I think to most people that's not a big problem...to me neither. Only contacts with multiple mobile numbers because they have SIM cards from several countries, or rarely contacts with multiple numbers through business. But it would be an improvement to the N9!
DeleteMy N9 isn't slow at all. The only times where it lags a bit is when an application installs in the background or right after booting the device. But I agree that N9 developers can certainly get more speed out of the device. Did you install any tweaks or modifications which could cause those lags?
My N9 most time runs also slow, also all apps are closed. Does anybody know, if there will more updates in the future or if this will be the last one`?
DeleteWe don't know and Nokia doesn't share any information about that. But something seems to be wrong with your N9. We have 3 N9 available for this website and none of them runs slow or laggy. Did you install any tweaks? Otherwise I would call Nokia Care.
DeleteI will like to fix the VOLUME, is TOOOO LOW!
DeleteAnd The Landscape for all apps.
And Finally the KEYBOARD, Is to Short. Its sucks.
A VPN CLIENT is urgently needed!! Most fo the actual NOKIA devices got this "built-in" - should be rather easy on a Linux-based device.
DeleteProper USB OTG function
ReplyDeleteOfficial support for nokia suite i want to back up my calender, notes, messages and everything else that symbian phones can do.
ReplyDeleteQuoting previous mail when responding
ReplyDeleteRight. Very important - already missed that a couple times.
DeleteI just miss Whatsapp and offline navigation. The rest is working fine for me.
ReplyDeleteAn unofficial port of Whatsapp will come (was announced for May 1 but release has been postponed).
DeleteWhat do you mean with "offline navigation"? If you download maps of a country you are in you can use maps and navigation offline.
Thanks for the tip with maps. It worked for me now.
Delete1. Skype video call
ReplyDelete2. Camera quality - benchmark against iPhone4S (both 8MP units)
3. Speedier GPS lock in - currently, it takes minutes
This info has totally made me excited! I wonder what new features will be seen? I love my Nokia N9 64G, the only drawback is the lagging, other than that I'm loving it. Hope the update does come soon :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder the same. Nokia first said that PR 1.3 will mainly be for bug-fixes and system improvements. But maybe we get to see more? It seems like...
DeleteIt seems that they've changed something in the mass storage, after I updated to the 1.2 I can't listen music on my Ford Fusion's Sync system, it says that there are no media files, and I'm ussing the same mp3 files as I used before... There is something wrong with it... but now I can listen text messages using sync...
ReplyDeleteHmm I wonder what that could be. Maybe it helps if you try to contact NokiaCare or post in a Nokia Forum or community forum.
Deleteoff line gps for sports tracker !!!
ReplyDeleteI thought it works already offline? Used it once abroad with all internet connection turned off and got my route nicely drawn on a map. I'll have a look at it when I used it the next time.
DeleteWhat I would like to see is sweep working physically identically with either orientation. Now on vertical you have program close from top and when horizontal program close is from side. Very confusing. This is something that should be configured by user at least.
ReplyDeleteFor alarm clock, more screen space for alarms!
For maps and navigation: ask to enable GPS if it is not on.
Original fonts and line-heights were better, 1.2 ruined the design look.
About swipe: Are you sure? I can close all my applications with a top-to-down swipe, if portrait or landscape mode. Do you have any additional application installed which could interfere with the swipe user interface?
DeleteAbout fonts: I think font size is a very personal thing. While I enjoy the PR 1.2 fonts a lot, other would love to go back to PR1.1. I even had people asking where they could increase font-size and line-heights even more... Best solution would be: A menu in settings where you could adapt fonts so that they fit your needs and preferences.
Thanks a lot for your comment and ideas!
I mean, closing swipe should ALWAYS be from "Nokia logo" direction. When in horizontal orientation, swipe from logo direction should be the close command.
DeleteWhy? When you hold the phone tilted (on bed, or when navigating), there are cases when orientation changes a lot. You think you swipe app to background, yet you closed the app. Happened many times. Analogy to current implemention logic would be when you steer right with your car, hand brake stick would change to the left side and when you steer left it would go right. To change how to give a kill command by positioning of the device in your hand is plain wrong.
I have had some troubles with SWIPE when using SWYPE writing. When you move your finger to letter "A", close to edge of screen it activates the swipe and whole screen moves aside. Especially difficult if you start message with "A"...
Delete@Anonymous about Swipe gestures: For example for me it is very logical how swipe works. Closing apps is always from top to down, so I can always make the same movement with my fingers even if I hold my phone in a different way.
DeleteBut it would be nice to have an option in settings where you can adjust swipe they way you want it.
Bug fixing would be already great especially the one concerning network reception. Sometimes my N9 isn't catching 3G or GSM networks so I'm missing calls and sms... It is really the top priority to be solved. If the battery life could be increased it would be great too. The last thing I'm hoping is an improvement concerning the e-mail application which is a little bit slow especially in comparison to WebOS.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible that you are using battery-saver-mode? If yes, please turn it off to have more constant internet connection (if mobile or Wi-Fi).
DeleteBut I agree with all your ideas to improve the N9. Especially on train rides it takes often too much time to re-catch 3G signal for example after a tunnel. My old phone from another brand didn't do that better, but I hope there can be done some improvement.
I'm not using battery saver mode. It's a bug. My gsm operator said it could be caused by the fact that 3G network is full and then the phone wouldn't be able to switch from 3G to 2G and I think it is actually the problem. When I was in a small city I had no problem during 3 days. Then I came back to Lille (a big city in France) and I had this 3G bug every 30mins.
DeleteStable WiFi connexion?
ReplyDeleteSame as in the comment above: Are you using battery-saver-mode? It will turn off Wi-Fi connection automatically if it's not in use.
DeleteWhat also helps if to set an Wi-Fi connection to "automatic use". Disconnect and before connecting again long-press your desired Wifi-connection until the option "use automatically" pops up. This should reconnect your N9 very fast in case connection breaks.
Since I don't experience any problems with Wi-Fi, I suggest that you download "MeeWiMan" from Nokia Store (or search for it on AllBoutN9, we have an article about it). With this app you can find out if a Wi-fi signal is strong enough for good use.
I hope if it is include another keyboard like 12 key
ReplyDeleteit is better than QWERTY keyboard
I remember that I had a 12key keyboard downloaded to my N9 a while ago. It worked like the classic keyboards on older mobile phones. If I find it, i'll let you know.
DeletePlease find a link :-)
DeletePerhaps a little naive, but i still hope for alien davik ore Openmobile acl to make the N9 run Android apps and perhaps Microsoft apps :-)
ReplyDelete- Let's say you need to copy the number of one of your contacts, it is a headache: the only way is to open the contact card as to edit it and copy
ReplyDelete- skype: it would be nice to be able to send SMS messages, not just im and calling!
- when you digit a number which is not in your contacts you cannot sms it immediately, the only work around is to call it, hang immediately and sms it from recent calls menu.
- as you said it would be nice to be able to customize the tags for each contact with multiple numbers
- faster opening of the sms app
I would like BT 4, wifi direct ;-)
ReplyDeleteUma melhoria na gama de apps não seria ruim...
ReplyDeleteShazam faz falta no N9 :(
1. PR 1.2 Doest show all pictures in Gallery and images from third party software need to be browse to their folder locations:( i hope this one will be fixed.
ReplyDelete2. Sometimes text/SMS messages just dont show need to be rebooted or wait for sometime.
3. Front camera should at least be usable using hardware or stack app
4. Devices that doesnt support ad-hoc (kindle fire/playbook etc) can connect to Wi-fi hotspot.
5. Stack theme
Fix the wifi...for the love of god!!
ReplyDelete- twitter login issues
ReplyDelete- wi-fi not working on all hotspots (it connects but no data tranfered) Lumia 800 - works.
- feeds on startup don't work ok, most of the time don't get updated (twitter, fb)
- contacts (more info like company) not it only shows first name last name, can't search by company, phone number...
Accounts - can't rename info to show with "other mail account".
- native video call over 3G
FM Radio! For Player Equalizer!
ReplyDelete- Direct access from lock screen to SMS and email by double clicking the notification when they arrive. I don´t like that I have to swipe many times before I can read them.
ReplyDelete- Updated Facebook app. With current version we don´t see groups or other own pages
- In web browser I would like to get rid off the default Nokia links (favorites and mostly used links should be fully editable).
- Navigation SW update would be welcome. A possibility to choose route like fastest or shortest and also possibility to plan partly the route (add stopping points). Also when taking a different route, navigator persistently tries to find a way back to the route it decided at first. (Not sure if it includes walking guidance?)
- Sports Tracker off line possibility (I´ve tried many times with off line and it keeps popping up a question to connect).
- Flash support to default browser (or what ever is needed to be able to view videos on web pages).
- Camera button with focus possibility
- Skype video calls also for me
- Nokia Suite support !! I don´t understand why this is missing. I need to be able to synchronize my calendar ! Really bad that this is missing.
- If possible, increase the sensitivity of the touch screen. Sometimes I have to swipe many times to go ahead (No, I don´t have dry fingers).
- A way to hide clock from lock screen (would be cool also if I could add there text if I wanted to)
Still loving my white N9 <3
One up for the possibility to choose fastest or shortest route in navigator!
DeleteAs for the new sms, you can read them by swiping aside the notification on lock screen just once.
To get rid of the clock on lock screen: Settings > device > display and deselect "Stand-by-screen"
Syncing: if you can get hold of the old "nokia PC suite" it perfectly works with the N9.
1. Improved the quality of pictures
ReplyDelete2. Zoom while taking a video
3. Lessen the lags of the phone
- Add more functionality on Facebook and Twitter app.
ReplyDelete- Fix the choppy frame rate while recording in 720p HD.
- Add more codec support on video player.
- Fix Camera flash lag and improve image quality( grainy and yellowish output while using flash in low light)
- Enable secondary camera to take pictures and videos and fix brightness problem.
- Add flash player support on Default Browser.
- Fix GPS issue while swithcing on/off(lags/not responding)
- Speed up Gallery.
- Add more functions on Video and Photo editing app.
- Add more apps support.
- Improve phone speed.
- Ability to backup apps data and sync apps to nokia account.
- Skype video calling.
and to send music via Bluetooth
DeleteThe apps need a lot of improvement;
ReplyDelete-facebook needs access to sharing, check-in, groups, own pages etc
-twitter needs editable re-tweeting (there sure are twimgo and qneptunea for that but still...)
-AP mobile news should allow sharing news with FB and twitter
-deleting multiple conversations in messaging should be added (we can only delete multiple messages in a single conversation)
-track and protect still not responding here in India
-unlock all the levels of angry birds (NFC tapping not helping)
-genre wise sorting should be available in music player
-editing excel files should be allowed
-secondary camera should be able to take pictures
-fast dialing should be added in phone application
-we cannot edit a number we are dialing in the phone app. scrolling should be allowed
-changing the shortcuts in the lock screen should be available by default, the app from the store doesn't work properly with P.R 1.2.
nokia suite doesn't support n9. at least nokia link should be developed...
ReplyDeleteControlTalk Universal 4 pin mic, play/pause, volume control detection.
ReplyDeleteEx: Nokia purity hd headset by Monster
1) zoom while we take videos..
ReplyDelete2) infront camera..
3) skype video call support.
4) fm radio..
5) hd mp4 support.
6) nimbuzz (will be better for msn, yahoo, n facebook)
COOOOL... N9 LUV U.
Default browser needs a serious code update. It has many issues rendering complex HTML5 and jQuery code, whereas Firefox renders them fine (but slowly). I'd trade reliability and proper rendering for speed any day.
ReplyDeleteMany improvements are expected for this beautiful piece:-
ReplyDelete- downloading option from youtube
- sharing, check-in, mentions, access to own pages in FACEBOOK,
- editable re-tweeting, mentions in twitter,
- sharing AP NEWS through facebook & twitter,
- track & protect not responding well here in India, need support for that,
- unlock all levels of ANGRY BIRDS (NFC tapping not working well),
- editing XL files should,
- genre wise sorting in music player,
- editing a number and fast dialing in dialer,
- deleting multiple conversations in messages.
Many features that i've written are available as third party applications but original is what this phone deserves.
I will like to fix the VOLUME, is TOOOO LOW!
ReplyDeleteAnd The Landscape for all apps.
And Finally the KEYBOARD, Is to Short. Its sucks.
Everyone is talkinf about FACEBOOK and Twitter.
ReplyDeleteCMON GUYS, Intall a good apps and thats it!
We want Changes like, The volume is a good point.
The Keyboard, The Landscape mode, For the phone.
CMON! Nokia, Increase the Volume without distorsion!
It would b dope if nokia added in its update a full screen picture when someone call u......
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but my push notifications work perfectly...?
ReplyDeleteThere's one thing that comes right to mind when speaking about updates. The ability to control orientation by default without using a terminal/apps. It should be there by default :/
Also, EQ for the music player. Definitely #1 !!!
The keyboard is too small, please enlarge it!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd we need Shazam.
Thank you so much
Best phone ever, till now. But keyboard is a bit small for big fingers and there should be a better way to go wifi and a faster way to upload/download mail. Still doean't sync weel with pushmail. Battery should last a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteMany people in Italy dream Nokia will make a new N9 with an N900 body (with bigger Ram).
Thank you!
I meant Lumia 900 body, N9 soul (and ram)!
DeleteVoice Dialing and talking caller ID is a must. Please add it to Nokia N9 so I feel I did actually upgraded from c6-01.
ReplyDeleteIt's still implausible to connect third party headphones with integrated controll functions and or mic. It wouldn't be that problem if the mic or controll buttons wouldn't work but the headphone isn't eaven detected. The music is still played over the internal speaker... I'm afraid of buying new headphones cause i didn't know if they would work and i will deffinitely not pay 150€ for these nokia headphones (those big who are not in-ear speakers)
ReplyDeleteNothing much to say, besides:
ReplyDelete-Improving battery consumption (even when save mode is activated)
-Need for a faster GPS (takes often minutes to locate)
-Faster launch at start up
-Lesser lag of apps (in particular when starting up)
-Make 3rd party apps standard (such as shortcut to activate/deactivate 3G; bluetooth; switching shortcuts on bottom screen; FM app)
All these small improvements would definitely make the Nokia N9 experience even greater than it is!
Meego phones have great potential and can easily compete with Iphones, especially because of their linux based OS. It is greatly appreciated from developers who could create hundreds of new and bold apps. I still do not understand how NOKIA still hasn't realized it found THE way to depart from its competitors.
Benjamin
is a commercial strategy
Deletewith N9, nokia study how can change the Iphone world with Linux OS and a SuperDevice; so nokia focuses on Tizen to create a New Linux OS like MeeGo
even if i prefer MeeGO to others
and if u mind the N9 device had a good hardware
but why they cant put inside: a major mAh battery like 1800mAh
a 12Mpixel like N8
a major bluetooth tecnology
an able to open devicebottom to change battery when it ruined
Meego phones are dead on arrival as Nokia is clearly just preparing the mobile division for sale to Microsoft. That is why N950 is available only to a few fortunate developers and why N9 is so crippled: no OTG, no SD card, no HDMI (those three trouble me), no bleeding edge camera (I would prefer no camera at all), no modern BT (for mouse and keyboard 1.2 is fair enough).
DeleteBut I like the device anyway, in the iOS/Android jail is brings some fresh air. Just the capacitative touchscreen makes it pain to use without a stylus - I am used to have one longer nail to control resistive touchscreen efficiently for about 10 years (since Palm m515). Is there any nailpaint that could solve that for me?
i would like the radio and fm transmitter to work.the thing i would like the most is an official proccesor overclok like on symbian.i overcloked mine to 1.2ghz and i am amazed of how fast the ui seems.but the app with wich i did that isnt oficial so it has some bugs.
ReplyDeletegetting at most 20% performace boost for overheating the device (1GHz is clearly too much already) and finishing the battery too fast is a bad choice. I doubt that the speedy feeling is anything more than placebo efect.
DeleteAS a palm replacement this is the best phone ever, however if they could fix:
ReplyDelete1.autocomplete of email adress used before or recieved
2.ability to sort sms and email on date and sender.
3.ability to sent sms when you don;t want to answer a call
4.standard sms replies
5. make the standard calculator just like the default palm calculator which had memory, converter and the ablitiy to switch between standard and scientific mode all in one.
6. ETA in Drive
7.live wallpaper, although that is more of a nice to have rather then really functional.
the copy tools when i open email
Deletefor now u cant copy the text from email even if is a web link
well, so far jUNE 4TH NO update!! :(
ReplyDeleteTrue HSDPA+ connection capabilities 21+mps would be awesome...
ReplyDeleteSome said that the update would be out by the end of May and some said it would be some time around the first week of June. It's already June 8 here in the Philippines and nothing has come out yet.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what's taking them so long? :\
Office es lo que falta una suite de oficina que realmente me permita editar mis documentos.
ReplyDeleteOffice is lacking an office suite that really allows me to edit my documents.
I would just really like to finally be able to use the front camera. It's very frustrating to take pictures of me and my friends because I can't always press the on-screen camera button to take a shot.
ReplyDeleteAlso I'm not so sure, but is there a conference call method in the N9?
If there isn't I would like to see that.
skype video call,
ReplyDeletefm radio,
equaliser for music app,
flash support ,
get rid of default link on the browser,
arows for keyboard,
general speed of the device,
battery consumption,
shazam,
please do this and n9 could be ewerything you want from the phone
flash is in the ovi store and it works already in PR 1.2
DeleteN9 is a PDA with GSM module, definitely not a phone. Phone is something that could be easily used for calling and texting while PDAs are generally not very good at this. This smartphone chimera is one of the best jokes I have seen in recent years - nothing like that exists and that is why I have a phone and N9.
1)SKYPE VIDEO CALL
ReplyDelete2)USB TETHERING
3)QUICK GPS FIX
4)CAMERA BUTTON
5)VIDEO RECORDING ZOOM
6)EQUALISER FOR MUSIC & RADIO TO BE IN BUILT
7)VPN SUPPORT
8)FRONT CAMERA SUPPORT TO BE URGENTLY FIXED
9)NOKIA LINK ENHANCEMENT
10)OPTION TO DOWNGRADE TO PREVIOUS PR VERSION ON UPDATER
11)NITROID TO BE LEGIT & ALREADY SET FOR MULTIBOOT @ START UP
12)IMPROVED & ENHANCED SPEAKER/RECEIVER SOUND ON CALLS (VOLUME LEVELS I MEAN)
13)HIGH VOLUME FOR RINGTONES
14)CALLER PICTURE SET TO BE LARGER THAN RIGHT NOW LIKE OLDER SYMBIANS
15)VIDEO CALL OPTION TO BE SURELY FIXED
16)LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST - BATTERY LIFE UPGRADE.
you could able N9 to modify the quick launch bar by settings app 8/10
ReplyDeleteyou could improve an other them to use instead default Blanco theme 6/10
you could improve the possibility to modify background screen of three desktop view 9/10
you could develop an application for manage bookmarks of web 9/10
you could improve streaming tools ( in youtube server dont streaming all the video but in real time ) 10/10
And the FRONT CAMERA SWTICH FUCTION from default camera app 10/10
a default FILE MANAGER ( like N900 )in meego style with root access 7/10
you could develop an application to insert messagges to lock screen view 7/10
you could create some widgets like N900 desktop 5/10
the status bar UI is too poor, need graphic improvement 8/10
ah i forgot
ReplyDeletei cant call the contacts of address book with skype
i can call with skype only skype number
or better when i open skype dialer i cant see the contacts numbers but i can only digit the number
so for call with skype i must remeber in mind the number!!!!! it's orrible to doing and stuff
fix the sms lag thing im a heavy sms user its sad that i have to switch fone just coz of sms, a better battery life, and an option for album art
ReplyDeletemake a good video player .that can play all files
ReplyDeleteBuilt in support for bluetooth keyboards. It's such a pain to do it manually every time.
ReplyDeleteI thought this one works and biggest trouble is inability to hide the onscreen keyboard. Going to buy BT keyboard as soon as I have some spare money.
DeletePossibility to flag a mail in email reader ! (the flagged item appears in the reader but can not be set/unset)
ReplyDeleteHm, june is ending and no update is out :(
ReplyDeleteSkype is so absurd software, that I can't care less, but there are lots of functional bugs in 1.2 (part of the list is complaint to unfinished 3rd paty improvements that should be internal anyway):
- email should not consider messages deleted from another client as new
- BT mouse should show a cursor and work anywhere - it is nearly useless to go blindly around the screen and if I want to use apps that are not optimized for that capacitative nonsense touchscreen it could solve the trouble
- SDK apps (terminal, SDK connector) should stay in the folders that I placed them no matter that I disabled and enabled developer mode
- on screen keyboard should be scalable, it should be possible to hide it and it should be possible to open it for any input, not just meego special apps. As it uses half of the screen it renders most keyboard using apps useless. It would be even more pain to use it because of the capacitative touchscreen, but one would at least see something.
- video player should stop complaining about its inability to play files which it could play. Stopping every few seconds is nonsense
- SIP should be able to handle the numbers in normal way, not forcing me to save every number in two formats
- scaling of mainscreen icons should be able to change the grid too, to save place or make them bigger, not just change the size of pictures
- it should be possible to turn the GSM phone on and off, not just flight mode. I use it as PDA, not a phone.
- RSS should be able to deal minor errs and not complain about invalid feed
- import of ssl certificates should have the finish button to actually do something
- navigation should be able to give some stats like average speed and real distance travelled
- landscape mode should work everywhere
- ability to make controls much smaller as this device without a stylus is useless anyway
- one should be able to underclock the device without installing cpufrequtils from debian repository. For most needs lowest freq is much more than enough already.
- division between apps, app data (is there any app that uses this place anyway?) and user data should be changeable. Mass storage space should not be shared with app data like maps - this one is completely absurd
- calendar should be able to see shared events and calendars not just those of logged user
The list is already long enough and noone in power at nokia would care anyway....
Thank you. It's a wonderful list and we tried to summarize some good ideas into our newer article about PR1.3. If there is any possibility to bring this list to the N9 coding team I would do it. But I feel if I just send it to Nokia it wouldn't arrive at the right people.
DeleteI'll see what I can do.
any official news from nokia regardingvthis update!! where is the source for this?
ReplyDeletePlease read our newer article about PR1.3. Source can be found in article. End of May was rumour which seemed not to be true... There is no release date for PR1.3 yet by Nokia and they don't give any answer about it. But It should come soon, but idk how soon.

The only thing I find SUPER irritating is that I can barely hear the person I'm talking to...and yes, I did increase the volume in terminal...still same extremely low volume on call...the music sound and ringtone sound are perfect...is there any app for that or some kind of a fix????Cheers
ReplyDeletei wish to add ringtones to my phone without putting them into my music and adding them to my music player via my pc is there a way to do this please help me
ReplyDelete
